Hi, I am looking for info on Hugh Sheetz as he was my Uncle and while I never got to meet him he is still very near and dear to my heart. If anyone has any info on him for me that would be great, whether it is his pictures, cribbage boards or stories or actual files such as his enlistment dates. Thanks in advance for again anything on him at all.

Hugh Sheetz was Willie Fairchild's original co-pilot and was an original member of the 484th BG. He crash landed a B-24 on June 12, 1944 near Torretta. He was putting slow time on an engine replacement when it happened. He was Flying #53 'Sa Wrong Gal and the plane burned up after all 4 men got out. One of them was John Kelly who was the original pilot on my dad's crew. Kelly became Fairchild's co-pilot and Sheetz became the pilot on my dad's crew. My dad and crew were shot down the next day on June 13, 1944 with another pilot on #62 Vivacious Lady.
