Good morning. I recently came across some of my father's service paperwork and have decided to look into finding out more about his military career. As a child he would tell stories but as a child I was not interested and now as an adult I do so regret not paying more attention. I am not sure really where to begin.
The papers I have say he was LT. Colonel Donald F Murphy, FV 79 52 88 from 12/26/1942 to 4/17/1946 . He was a Major/Squadron Group Staff Navigator in a B 24 with the 484th Bomb Group, 15th AF in Italy. His paper work says he served in the European Theatre. Flew missions as a B-24 navigator with targets of Ploesti, Vienna & Munich. Campaigns were Air Offensive Europe, Rome-Arno, Normandy, Northern France, Southern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Northern Apennines, Central Europe and Po Valley.
Any information on where i can do some research to learn more would be greatly appreciated. Thank you - Mary Murphy (email@example.com)
