Susanna Hargreaves, the grand-daughter of Ralph Hallenbeck, has written a book about his exploits and life. He was shot down on May 29. 1944, bailed out of his plane and although severely burned, survived as a POW and went on to a career in the Air Force. He retired as a General and was a true hero. I know that my father had great respect for him. I encourage you to check out her book. Bob Dixon Jr. THIS IS THE NOTE THAT I RECEIVED FROM HER: I just want to let you know I finally finished and published my grandfather’s story! This book (ebook and paperback on Amazon) about my grandfather Ralph J. Hallenbeck and his love for my grandmother Corabelle Hallenbeck has been a LONG labor of love. I promised my grandfather I would write it. I hope their story will inspire others, and also be a way for them to live on. At least our family will have it to remember them. They are together and at peace. It is from transcribed interviews and tape recordings I made while I visited them. It is told in first person-very simply told...and true. Included are letters, telegrams, articles, and photos to verify it all, so it kind of like reading a journal. I dedicate it to my Dad and my uncles. I sent the draft to the WWII museum, but will also send the published copy to West Point and again to the WWII museum. I hope you will pass the info on to whomever may be interested in it. www.amazon.com/dp/1087462843/ref=mp_s_a_1_1…Thank you again for your time and consideration.
